Announcement
Progress on the Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) grant
Attn: Superintendents, District Personnel, Principals, Guidance Counselors, Registrars
The SLDS grant enables Colorado to enact a project called LEAP. Colorado’s Longitudinal Education Data Action Plan (LEAP) builds upon the foundation of our statewide student record system, which began in 2002. Three major LEAP initiatives aim to expand the current Data Warehouse, automate transcript and student data transfer among education agencies, and rapidly expand access to student-level data analysis and reporting.
Recent SLDS progress highlights include:
-Creation of the CDE Data Dictionary (https://cdeapps.cde.state.co.us/DataDictionary/)
-Expansion of the CDE Data Warehouse to enable centralized reporting of Special Education and Student Growth data
-Automation of file generation processing for the federal EDFacts data submission system (http://www.ed.gov/about/inits/ed/edfacts/index.html)
-Development of the Colorado Transcript Center (http://www.transcriptcenter.com/resources/CTC_Coming_Soon.pdf)
-Purchase of Cognos 8.3 Business Intelligence software for future enhancements to CEDAR and SAR reporting (https://cedar.cde.state.co.us/) For a complete process overview and to view a data view diagram, please visit the link below.

Changes to the 2008 CSAP science scale and cut scores grades 5,8, and 10
Attn: Superintendents, DACs, Principals
The Colorado State Board of Education adopted the revised Colorado Model Content Standards for grades five, eight and ten in 2007. Districts administered the science tests that reflected the revisions early in the assessment window so Colorado's highly qualified science teachers could set the new cut points for the proficiency levels.
Information regarding the new Science test will be included in the CSAP summary. The new Science scores will be displayed independently from the previous year's scores with the explanation about the new scale with the new cut scores. Please note: making scale score comparisons with previous year's scores is not recommended.
