Intensive Math Planning Workshop
Attn: Superintendents, elementary, middle and high school principals, district curriculum directors/coordinators, TOSAs, and math coaches
The standards and academic support unit will hold a mathematics workshop designed for district/school mathematics teams. The training is based on research from successful schools and teachers and how they improved mathematics instruction for their students.
The workshop is an intensive five-day training and consists of three phases:
-Phase I - A five-day training for district/school teams focused on mathematics in grades 5 – 12.
-Phase II - A follow-up effectiveness survey will go out six to eight months after the initial training to determine the extent of changes made and assess any additional support/information needed.
-Phase III - Three one-day training sessions designed from the feedback received during Phase II, plus research and information on Special Ed (exceptional students), English language learners, ethnic students, Response to Intervention (RtI), differentiation and gifted and talented students. The Phase I workshop will be held July 28 – August 1, 2008 at the Adams Twelve Education Center, 1500 E. 128th Street, Thornton, CO 80241-2601.
There is a nominal charge for each attendee. Dates and fees have not been determined for Phase III training. Additional costs, such as: per diem, hotel, travel, stipends are the responsibility of the district. For more information and to access the enrollment application, follow the link below.

Closing the Achievement Gap RFI Now Available
Attn: Education service providers
The new Closing the Achievement Gap Request for Information (RFI) is now available. This RFI invites educational service providers that offer research proven educational services to apply for inclusion on the 2008-2009 list of Closing the Achievement Gap Providers. The purpose of this list is to provide information about resources for increasing achievement and closing achievement gaps.
