Registration Open for the Accountability/Standards Implementation Tour

Attn: Superintendents, DACs, Curriculum Directors

CDE is providing a series of regional sessions to support district leaders as they plan and strategically respond to two major changes in education within the state of Colorado: 1) revisions to the Colorado Educational Accountability System (S.B. 09-163 implementation), including unified improvement planning, and 2) implementation of the revised Colorado P-12 Academic Standards.

We look forward to spending a full day with district executive leadership focused on understanding and using the school performance framework, developing aligned school and district improvement plans and implementing related provisions of the Colorado Educational Accountability Alignment Act. A portion of this time will also be devoted to increasing local awareness of the timing of adoption and implementation of the revised P-12 Academic Standards.

We encourage districts to bring a small team to this session. In the afternoon, there will be two concurrent sessions for: 1) individual(s) responsible for accreditation, federal programs administration, and data-driven decision-making and improvement planning and 2) individual(s) responsible for curriculum planning. If there is crossover between these teams, you may want to bring an instructional leader such as a teacher leader so there is representation in both afternoon sessions.

Tuesday, May 18 - Pikes Peak
Thursday, May 27 - North Metro
Wednesday, June 2 - Alamosa
Thursday, June 3 - Durango and Limon
Thursday, June 10 - Lamar and Fort Morgan
Friday, June 11 - Pueblo

Assessment Capacity Survey Closes on Tuesday, May 18

Attn: Superintendents, Principals, Teachers, District Personnel

In 2009, CDE conducted a survey to determine what aspects of the current assessment system Colorado educators think are important and what potential changes should be considered.

As a next step in preparation for rolling out a new assessment system, CDE would now like to determine what support you might need to most effectively use assessment data to help you improve student learning. CDE has contracted with WestEd to conduct an online survey to gather your input. Your responses will be very useful in helping CDE support you, your students, your school(s) and your district as it develops the Next Generation assessment system for Colorado.

If you are willing to participate in this survey, please go to the corresponding links:
Teachers: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7SP6BMZ
District administrators: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CVQMTRG

It should take you 15–20 minutes to complete the survey. In order to provide the greatest level of security, your responses will be completely anonymous. We will not ask for your name, the name of your school or the name of your district. We will not be able to determine what computer is used to complete the survey or where in the state the computer is located. All responses will be reported in the aggregate.

If you have questions about the objectives of the survey, or the survey itself, please contact Jennae Bulat at jbulat@wested.org. The survey will close on Tuesday, May 18.

Thank you in advance for your support of this important initiative.
