Notification of CHPS Training: New Solutions for Green Schools in Colorado
Attn: Superintendents, Business Managers, Facility Directors
Colorado Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CO-CHPS) creates a benchmark for the design and construction of Colorado high performance school buildings that are efficient, comfortable, environmentally responsible and healthy spaces.
For the past year, a Colorado-based advisory committee, representing a broad range of school design and construction stakeholders, developed CO-CHPS. The committee, in partnership with the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office, created a CHPS Criteria to the unique codes and regulations, climates, opportunities and local priorities of the state.
Join CHPS for an in-depth training session in Colorado this April: New Solutions for Green Schools in Colorado. School and district facility planners, design professionals, energy consultants, and other interested industry professionals in Colorado will benefit from these in-person seminars to promote green, healthy Colorado schools.
Facilitated by CHPS staff and local partners, the training will provide an in-depth review of the CO-CHPS program and resources. Participants will learn about CHPS’ program offerings, the CO-CHPS prerequisites and credits and hear from practitioners on how to implement high performance schools in Colorado. The training will include a credit-by-credit review of CO-CHPS, as well as case studies from local school district energy managers and presentations from the Governor’s Energy Office and from CDE's BEST program.
Space is limited, so sign up early! • Monday, April 26 in Grand Junction • Wednesday, April 28 in Colorado Springs • Thursday, April 29 in Denver

Reminder
Statewide Financial Assistance Priority Assessment
Attn: Superintendents, Business Managers, Facility Directors
CDE's Division of Public School Capital Construction Assistance conducted a Financial Assistance Priority Assessment of public school facilities in Colorado in 2009–2010 to address the considerations set forth in section 22-43.7-107 C.R.S.
The assessment of approximately 8,419 facilities in 178 school districts included main buildings, leased buildings, temporary classroom facilities, mini-buildings, school sites, athletic fields, athletic facilities and other support buildings. The assessment data will be used as a tool to evaluate grant applications.
To keep the assessment up-to-date the division needs help from school staff. When facilities get renovations, additions, demolition, new buildings, replacement of equipment, etc., comments should be logged in the assessment database. This will track the changes made and allow the division to update the database with the revised information. The assessment database will always have the most recent report to review.
Comments can be entered at anytime but the database will be archived yearly to run reports which will be posted on the SchoolView Web page. Therefore comments entered after the cycle ends and the data base is archived won’t reflect on the SchoolView reports until the following cycle.
For detailed instructions, usernames, pass codes and help with the database, contact Dustin Guerin at guerin_d@cde.state.co.us. Thanks you for your assistance!
