CELApro Ncount

Attn: Superintendents, DACs, ADE Respondents

The Ncount for 2008 CELApro will open Monday, March 2 and close at 6 p.m. Friday, March 6. This Ncount is only for the CELApro assessments. Ncount for grade three reading CSAP will occur later in March and Ncount for CSAPA and all other CSAP assessments will occur in May.

The purpose of Ncount is for districts to verify that the count of CELApro booklets scanned and scored by CTB matches your School Group Lists (SGL) counts completed during CELApro administration. Ncount process is done through CTB's Navigator Web site.

Please note: CELApro Student Biographical Data review will open Monday, March 9, through Friday, March 20.

Regional Service Area Applications Now Available

Attn: BOCES Directors, Superintendents

In 2008, Colorado state legislation approved Senate Bill 08-038, or Regional Service Areas (RSA). RSA creates 12 regional service areas to support local and regional initiatives to increase student achievement. Each region has a Regional Service Area Council which is responsible for the development, monitoring and reporting of a regional plan to address educational needs within the region.

Regional council formation and plan implementation applications are now available. The application deadline for the RSA Council formation is Wednesday, April 1. The RSA plan implementation deadline is Tuesday, June 30. Learn more about the applications and requirements by clicking the link below.

Equitable Services to Nonpublic School Students

Attn: NCLB directors/coordinators

The Office of Federal Program Administration has posted the Equitable Services to Nonpublic School Students booklet under "NCLB Guidance" on the Federal Program Administration page at the link below.

All NCLB directors/coordinators are encouraged to read the booklet and become familiar with the requirements for this important provision of the NCLB statute.

Included with this notice is a link to the USDE Web site for the Ensuring Equitable Services to Private School Children; Title I Resource Tool Kit. This toolkit will be helpful to LEA personnel dealing with NCLB requirements. http://www.ed.gov/programs/titleiparta/ps/titleitoolkit.pdf

Automated Data Exchange (ADE) Report Card March Collection Opening

Attn: RCM Respondents, Superintendents, Principals

The ADE Report Card March Collection is scheduled to open Wednesday, March 11, and remain open until Friday, April 17.

The data elements for the 2008-2009 collection has not changed from last year and the information submitted by districts and BOCES will appear in the School Accountability Reports (SAR.)

Specific Learning Disabilities for Professional Family Advocates

Attn: Special Education Directors

Family liaisons employed by school districts, BOCES and state-operated programs are invited to attend a meeting titled, "Specific Learning Disabilities for Family Advocates: What should professional advocates know about the revised criteria and identification process?"

Date: Thursday, March 19
Location: Adams 12 Conference Center, 1500 E. 128th Ave., Thornton
Time: Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m.; session 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., with a working lunch
There is no registration fee. A light lunch will be provided.

The session will address:
 SLD Criteria: changes in the law & timelines for implementation
 Relationship to RtI/Problem-Solving
 Referral and evaluation process
 Determination, eligibility, documentation
 Parent/family role throughout the process
 Special considerations and frequently asked questions
