Workshop on Technical Adequacy of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans
National expert, Rose Iovannone , from the University of South Florida, will provide detailed descriptions of critical components of FBAs and BIPs along with an evaluation tool that will assist school districts in providing oversight of these important student supports.
Objectives:
As we strive to reduce the number of suspensions and expulsions of students with disabilities (Indicator 4), reduce disproportionality in special education placements (Indicators 9 and 10,) and meet the provisions of HB 1345 (the “Discipline Bill,”) this information is designed to build district capacity in these areas. Follow-up to this workshop will be provided by the PBIS Technical Assistance Coordinators.
Who should attend:
The target audience for this workshop includes Directors of Special Education, coordinators who are charged with reviewing student records, along with appropriate mental health practitioners. Each district will be allowed to bring a team of up to 8 people.
