We primarily serve teachers directly who attend our workshops, seminars or institutes. We also will work directly with schools or districts to bring workshops to their sites. Examples of Colorado districts we have served in this way: Summit County,Elizabeth, East Otero, Custer County, Roaring Fork, Ouray, Gunnison Watershed.

Qualifications of this Organization (licensure, trademark, etc.):
Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) and UNC is one of 28 sites throughout the country offering professional development as stipulated by the Library of Congress, and is designated a provider of free professional development through grant funding
Qualifications of Instructors/ Staff that Provide Services:
Staff who delivery workshops include two with PhD's in Ed Tech; one with a Master's in literature and PhD Coursework in professional development/adult learning. All are certified Instructors of Record through UNC Extended Studies. Two contract facilitators include one with two MAs - Ed Tech and Library Science; another in History. All have experience in K-12 teaching as well as adults.
Cost:
All professional development is offered FREE through the grant funding from the Library of Congress.
Explanation of how we are able to provide differentiated services to meet the individual needs of schools and districts.
TPS offers a standard, full day introductory "level one" workshop as foundational; but will also customize to meet needs of district, for example shorter 4-6 hours workshops or "special topics" focusing on specific content areas. Staff will work with districts to customize or emphasize specific needs.
How will we evaluate our services and support to schools and districts and its effectiveness in school/ district/ student achievement?
Each participant completes an evaluation of the course taken, these are used in formative assessment; in addition, the TPS program at the Library of Congress is completing a comprehensive evaluation of the national program through contract with SRI International.

Workshops take place in computer labs or with personal internet-connected laptops, and work best with 12-15 participants (maximum 24.) Foundational workshop, Essentials Exploration, (8 hours) provides "Level One" introduction and overview. Special Topics are generally offered at a central location and teachers are invited to participate. Sample Special topics: American Voices, African-Americans in the West, Digital Storytelling, Reactions to 9/11 (10th anniversary)
500-1000 Students:
