Parents Encouraging Parents (PEP) Conference

Parents Encouraging Parents (PEP) Conferences are family-centered events designed to offer support, information and education to both parents and professionals who work with children with disabilities across Colorado. PEP promotes the partnerships between parents and professionals that are essential in supporting and including children with disabilities in schools and communities. Three PEP Conferences are scheduled for the 2012-2013 school year: October 25-27, 2012; February 28-March 2, 2013; and May 2-4, 2013.

Objectives:

To promote partnerships that are essential in supporting and including children with disabilities and their families in schools and the community.

Who should attend:

Parents, administrators, principals, teachers, medical or other service providers should attend who have – or who work with – a child with a disability—ages birth to twenty-one, or who are interested in the family-professional partnership.

Credit available?

Professionals can acquire 18 professional development hours for attending the full conference. A certificate will be provided.

Cost:

PEP conferences are offered free-of-charge by the Colorado Department of Education. Hotel rooms and meals (with the exception of Friday night’s dinner) are provided during each conference. With these provisions to participants, we hope to provide the opportunity of a PEP experience to all interested families!

Additional Information:

During PEP conferences children will not be permitted in the sessions or dining rooms. Lodging and meals for family members NOT participating in a conference are not provided.
