IRB Approval

The Institutional Review Board for the Colorado Department of Education considers and reviews all outside requests for state data by individuals not employed by the State of Colorado who wish to conduct research using Colorado student or school system data already collected by CDE. Doctoral and master's degree candidates, university faculty, independent researchers, and private and public agencies must submit proposals before receiving data and conducting and publishing their research.

If the research involves only the collection of aggregate student information that is already available online in the public domain, the IRB committee need not be involved.
