Online Schools and Programs

In Colorado an online school is defined as ..."a full-time education school. . . that delivers a sequential program of synchronous or asynchronous instruction directed by a teacher, primarily through online digital learning strategies that provide students choice over time, place, and path, and teacher-guided modality, of learning."

An online program is defined as …"a full-time education program… that delivers a sequential program of synchronous or asynchronous instruction directed by a teacher, primarily through online digital learning strategies that provide students choice over time, place, and path, and teacher-guided modality, of learning.”

The multi-district online schools, single-district online schools, and single-district programs listed below offer full-time online education programs and are authorized by a Colorado school district, BOCES, or the Charter School Institute, all of which are accredited by the State of Colorado. Multi-district online schools may accept students from across the state of Colorado, regardless of their home school district. Single-district online schools and programs serve students only from the authorizing district.

The Supplemental Online Programs listed below offer "one or more on-line courses to students to augment an educational program provided by a school district, charter school, or BOCES."

“Supplemental Online Program” means a program that offers one or more online courses to students to augment an educational program provided by a school district, charter school, or board of cooperative services.

Summary: Colorado Online Learning (COL) collaborates with schools to provide affordable, high-quality, standards-based supplemental online coursework. COL offers over 70 courses across the high school curriculum. COL teachers are all Colorado-licensed, highly-qualified, and teach courses with an average student to teacher ratio of less then 18:1. COL is not a full-time cyberschool it is an online education program that supplements, or adds to, the course offerings of a local school.
