Training - Regional In-person Trainings

  • What to Expect During an Administrative Review
    • What to Expect During the Administrative Review: If you are up for review in SY 2018-2019 this training if for you! This is a four hour training that will provide you with a clear understanding of the Administrative Review process, common findings from previous reviews and what resources are available to help you prepare for your review. This training will not go in to depth on program area regulations, procurement or resource management; rather what topics will be looked at in the review. Visit the School Nutrition website for training dates and locations. Online modules are also available to start preparing! Contact your reviewer or Kerri Link with  any questions. 
  • Free and Reduced Price Meals and Verification Training
    • Free and Reduced Price Meals and Verification Training:  participants will learn to effectively certify, process and verify free and reduced-price meal eligibility benefits, in accordance with federal and state nutrition program regulations.
      • Who should attend - training requirements:  staff with zero to two years experience, who work in the free and reduced price meals program area.
  • Direct Certification Training
    • Direct Certification Training:  participants will understand and practice direct certification formatting and uploading procedures.
      • Who should attend - training requirements:  required for new staff only; highly encouraged for  IT/technology staff working with Direct Certification.
  • Fundamentals of Menu Planning
    • At the Fundamentals of Menu Planning for Directors and Fundamentals of Menu Planning for Kitchen Managers trainings, participants will be taught a variety of essential skills used within a food service setting such as: recipe scaling, meal patterns, Offer vs. Serve, kitchen math, documentation requirements, and use of the Food Buying Guide. Additionally, the Fundamentals of Menu Planning for Directors training will partner the OSN and LiveWell @ School Food Initiative to provide chef demonstrations to reinforce application of select concepts.
  • School Nutrition Programs (SNP) Academy
    • The School Nutrition Programs Academy will provide new directors and kitchen managers with the skills necessary to successfully operate a school food service program. Participants will learn about menu planning, free and reduced price processes, meal counting and claiming, procurement and food safety.
  • Summer Food Service Program  Sponsor Training
    • The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Sponsor Training will cover program regulations, resources, and best practices for new sponsors operating the SFSP.
