USDA Announces School Meals Final Rules - July 21, 2016
Agriculture Deputy Undersecretary Katie Wilson announced final changes under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFKA) that will improve access to healthy food, consistent nutrition standards for foods marketed and served to students, and program integrity efforts that will further improve the administration of federal child nutrition programs.
Final rules were announced for the following:
- 7 CFR Part 245 National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program: Eliminating Applications through Community Eligibility as Required by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010
- 7 CFR Parts 210 and 220 National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program: Nutrition Standards for All Foods Sold in School as Required by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010
- 7 CFR Parts 210 and 220 Local School Wellness Policy Implementation under the Healthy,Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010
- 7 CFR Parts 210, 215, 220 and 235 Administrative Reviews in the School Nutrition Programs

The Office of School Nutrition will provide a certificate of appreciation for any food service employee who is retiring this year. Please email Stacey Macklin with the following information: employee name, employee position/title, years of service, district/school and the address where you want the certificate mailed. Certificates are dated May 2016; if you have a different retirement date, please include this date with the information provided. Please plan ahead and allow a minimum of five days for mailing.
