What is a Facility School?

Facility schools are residential, day treatment and hospital programs that provide education services to student with mental health challenges. The schools can serve students from kindergarten through twelfth grade and provide both general education and special education services.  The term Approved Facility School refers to an educational program that is operated by a licensed agency and that has been approved to receive reimbursement for education services for students placed in the program. Facility school teachers are employed by private agencies that pair with the school to provide therapeutic support.
