Dietary Guidelines for Americans
National Health Education Standards
The Nutrition Literacy Toolkit (Toolkit) is not a curriculum, but a tool from which schools and communities can design a curriculum using a menu of effective nutrition education resources. Alignment of learner outcomes in the Toolkit with Colorado core standards for reading, writing, math, and physical education allows for teaching skills for healthy eating while practicing skills that will increase students' competencies in reading, writing, math, and physical education.
Toolkit Navigation
The Interactive Toolkit allows the user to select skill based student learner outcomes and current, reliable and valid resources that address the nutrition needs of students. Navigating successfully through the planning process is simple. Follow the instructions for each step in the planning process. Begin the process by clicking on the Nutrition Literacy Toolkit bullet.
Side bar items provide resource documents, references and assessments. The School Health Index assessments are particularly useful if developing a comprehensive school based nutrition program which addresses the classroom and the school nutrition environment.
