The library has over 600,000 library books, periodicals, graphic publications, standards, manuscripts, and early printed books (incunabula) from the Middle Age and the Renaissance. With a town population of about 80,000 people, it has almost 10 000 readers, and with an annual circulation of approximately 250,000.
The Reference, Bibliography and Information Service with Local Bibliography Department tracks out and classifies publications about the Veliko Turnovo region, works out and maintains thematic and systematic indexes, makes written bibliographic references, offers automated reference and bibliography attendance, and Internet services.
The library automation started in 1992 with the Open Society - Sofia Foundation's assistance. At the present moment, the library has 10 computers connected in a local network.
