Notification of Unit Name Change

As a part of the efforts to restructure our unit, the issue of leadership has been discussed. In order for our unit to be accurately viewed as the national exemplar for state departments across the nation, we want to provide the highest level of leadership to districts and our other constituencies. We believe that each and every one of our consultants who are a part of this unit display leadership capabilities; the work requires them to be leaders in their respective areas. Our restructuring work will remain focused on developing and implementing this Best Practice/Leadership vision. In order to better communicate that each of our consultants are leaders in the field, the name of our unit has been changed from Exceptional Student Services Unit to Exceptional Student Leadership Unit (ESLU)­, a change that hopefully reflects the priorities underlying our restructuring. We believe this change is important in conveying meaning and purpose in both a symbolic and concrete manner.
