The St. Vrain Valley School District and Red Hawk Elementary will be hosting the Excellence in Schools Summit, correlations between physical activity and academic success,  about improving academic performance through physical movement and wellness.

Dr. John Ratey, the author of Spark, will be the keynote speaker, and also attending will be representatives from 6 school-based physical activity programs that were recognized nationally for having the most innovative and scalable on-the-ground physical activity programs nation-wide last summer by the Active Schools Acceleration Project Innovation Competition, an initiative of ChildObesity180. Red Hawk Elementary - the host - was the national winner of this competition.

The conference also includes a wellness forum - a panel of policy makers in Colorado who will speak to the audience about the implications of wellness policies in schools and the pragmatics of implementing them, among other issues. We also will highlight garden implementation into schools.
