Closing the Achievement Gap
Colorado's Closing the Achievement Gap initiative is focused on addressing the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 which is aimed at lifting the educational achievement of children of poverty and color. House Joint Resolution 01-1014 declared Closing the Achievement Gap a central element of educational accountability in the state. The initiative brings together non-traditional alliances of business people, heads of statewide organizations, clergy, local school board members, libraries, and political and community leaders to advance educational achievement and opportunities for students of poverty and color.
