CDE comments on ESSA accountability and state plan proposed rules

On May 31, 2016, the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) released a Notice of Proposed Rule-making on accountability and state plans under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which was open for public comment until August 1, 2016. Update on Colorado’s ESSA State Plan Development

Thank you to the hundreds of educators, parents, and students who took the time to attend and provide feedback at the ESSA listening tour events, listening tour webinar, and through our ESSA blog and email inbox. Proposed ESSA Regulations and Public Comment Process from the U.S. Department of Education

The United States Department of Education (USDOE) has recently proposed regulations on accountability, consolidated state plans, and data reporting under the Every Student Succeeds Act. The proposed regulations were published in the Federal Register on Tuesday, May 31, and are available here.  These proposed rules are subject to a 60-day public comment period, with comments due by August 1, 2016.  The U.S.

Participate in the ESSA Listening Tour Webinar

Colorado Department of Education (CDE) officials visited seven locations across Colorado, with 13 sessions in total, as part of the ESSA listening tour. CDE is hosting an ESSA listening tour webinar on June 1st for those unable to attend an in-person session. This listening tour session is open to all interested participants.

ESSA Statewide Listening Tour

Highlights from Hunt Institute’s “Opportunities and Responsibilities: A First Look at ESSA” Conference

State legislators, board of education members, and other educational leaders from 14 states gathered in Atlanta, Georgia on February 26th and 27th to gain information from the U.S. Department of Education, the National Conference of State Legislatures, National Association of State Boards of Education, Data Quality Campaign, Education Trust, Council of Chief State School Officers, Teach Plus, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Thomas B. Fordham Institute and educators including two teachers and one superintendent.  The conference was hosted by The Hunt Institute.
