AYP Participation Rates

The most fundamental requirement for making AYP is that 95% of students in the school or district overall, as well as any disaggregated groups with 30 students or more, take the state assessments for both Reading and Math.

Participation rate for Reading:

Number of CSAP tested grade students with valid scores on CSAP or CSAPA Reading or
(if NEP/LEP) Lectura (3rd or 4th grade, in U.S. <5 years and Spanish bilingual program) or
(if NEP/LEP) CELA-pro overall score and in U.S. <1 year

divided by_________________________________________________________
Number of CSAP tested grade students enrolled at the time of testing

Participation rate for Math:

Number of CSAP tested grade students with a valid score on CSAP or CSAPA Math
divided by_________________________________________________________
Number of CSAP tested grade students enrolled at the time of testing

The same formulas are used at both the school and district levels to determine participation rates.

If the school, district or disaggregated group does not make the 95% participation rate based on the current year’s data, a 2-year participation rate will be calculated by including participation data from the prior year. If the school, district or disaggregated group does not make the 95% participation rate based on two years’ data, the 3-year participation rate will be calculated.
