The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Assessment Committee requests your feedback, by January 23, 2017, on key assessment decision points needed for implementation.

The specific decision points available for comment now for the assessment section of the state plan are:

Advanced Mathematics Course Work

  1. Will the state continue to use the exception for students in eighth grade to take end-of-course high school mathematics assessments?

Languages Other than English

  1. How will the State Educational Agency define “languages other than English that are present to a significant extent in the participating student population?”
  2. What is the State’s plan and timeline for developing assessments in languages other than English that are present to a significant extent that it does not already have?

You can provide input on individual decision points or all of them, based on your interest and/or expertise. Once this input is gathered, the Assessment Spoke Committee will review, make any applicable adjustments and then release a section as part of the full state plan draft for input at a later date.
