This webpage is intended to provide an overview of professional learning opportunities for Alternative Education leaders and staff.  These events are hosted by a variety of different offices at CDE or external partners.  In addition, there is contact information below for staff who work on aspects of support for AECs. Graduation rates 101 - Implications for AECs Registration Link CDE’s continuous improvement office will lead a webinar session on how four, five, six, and seven year graduation rates are calculated, including how anticipated year of graduation is determined and implications for AECs.

School Improvement ideas for AECs Registration Link CDE’s continuous improvement and Dropout Prevention offices will lead a webinar session on best practices for organizing school improvement efforts for AECs.
September Implications for CS Year 3+ and CS Low Grad   CDE’s continuous improvement and federal program offices will lead a webinar session on the implications for federal designation of Comprehensive Support - Low Graduation Rate, which is impacting a large number of AECs in Colorado.

AEC accountability frameworks Registration Link CDE’s accountability office will lead a webinar that provides an overview of the Alternative Education Campus Accountability Framework and updates for the 2024 framework.

ICAP for AECs Registration Link CDEs’ Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness and Dropout Prevention Office will lead a webinar and discussion on best practices for the Individualized Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) process for AECs.
November AEC optional Measures   CDE’s accountability office will lead a webinar on the optional measures section of the accountability framework that will include what measures qualify, the collection process, and how they fit into the framework.
December 6, 2024 AEC Conference   Hosted by New America School in Lakewood, the conference provides a learning and collaboration opportunity.

Work-Based learning for AECs Registration Link CDEs’ Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness and Dropout Prevention Office will lead a webinar and discussion on best practices for work based learning for students in AECs.
February AEC Renewal and Designation   CDE’s accountability office will lead a webinar that provides an overview of the Alternative Education Campus Renewal and Designation process.
