Colorado Reading First Home

Colorado Reading First (CRF) was established through Title 1, Part B, under the No Child Left Behind Act.

The purpose of the $67 million Colorado Reading First grant was to support the implementation of proven methods of reading instruction in classrooms.  The Colorado Reading First Grant ran from 2003 to 2010.

Through CRF, Colorado school districts received support to apply scientifically based reading research—and the proven instructional and assessment tools consistent with this research—to ensure that all children learn to read well by the end of third grade. The program supported the use of screening and diagnostic tools and classroom-based instructional reading assessments to measure how well students were reading.

CRF also provided professional development to administrators, K-3 teachers, K-12 Special Education teachers, reading coaches, regional consultants, and CRF staff through state conferences, regional trainings, online courses, and webinars.

Colorado Reading First resources have been archived on this Web site.
