Innovation & Choice

CDE’s Innovation, Choice and Engagement Division focuses on expanding learning opportunities for each student by looking beyond the typical school building, day, and calendar. It is also a priority of the division that we strategically increase the supply of quality online and blended learning options; support new choice schools and programs, and replicate those with proven track records of success.  The division also identifies policy or system changes needed within CDE and across the state in order to meet the needs of 21st century learners.

The Division of Innovation and Choice is lead by Associate Commissioner, Amy Anderson. The main units and offices that operate within the division are:

Adult Education & Family Literacy                       Innovation Schools                  State Library

Dropout Prevention & Student Engagement           Online & Blended Learning

Health & Wellness                                              Schools of Choice
