The Office of Special Education is one of three offices under the Exceptional Student Services Unit (along with the Office of Facility Schools and the Office of Gifted Education).

Amendments To The ECEA Rules
The State Board of Education held a Rulemaking Hearing on December 5, 2012 and approved the proposed changes on January 9, 2013. These changes affect sections regarding approved facility schools, the definition of “administrative unit” to make it consistent with statute, eliminate an expired section regarding due process hearings, and add the new eligibility category definition and criteria for “Child with a Developmental Delay”.
