Teacher-In-Residence (TIR) Program
Which Program is Right for Me?
Districts or schools choose to participate with Designated Agencies that
offer the one-year Alternative Program and/or the two-year TIR Program. If there
is only one district to which you wish to apply, you can only be prepared in the
program for which the district is approved. Upon securing a full-time teaching
position, candidates are required to contact the Designated Agency
representative for further program details and procedures.
Both programs include both coursework and mentoring. During the Alternative
Program, candidates complete 225-clock hours of instruction based on the
Colorado Teacher Performance Based Standards. Just as during the two-year TIR
program, candidates also complete similar required coursework.
