Teacher-In-Residence (TIR) Program

What Do I Do First To Apply For Teacher In Residence Program?

1. Complete the CDE fingerprint card and send it and the fee to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation directly.

2. Candidates apply directly to the TIR Designated Agency or BOCES for applications and evaluation, not to CDE. An evaluation of your academic preparation, corresponding to the endorsement area, is made through transcript review. If you have previously obtained a Statement Of Eligibility from CDE, it may be honored for enrollment into the TIR Program.

3. Sign up for and pass the content area assessment test. Colorado accepts test results from the PLACE® assessment, accepts results from the  PRAXIS II exam in some endorsement areas. The test results will automatically be sent to CDE.

          4. Upon securing a teaching position you will need to contact the designated agency to complete

the TIR application. The TIR Authorization will be mailed to you. Please make a copy for your

          school district.

          5. Following the successful completion of the TIR Program, the Designated Agency will

complete the necessary CDE forms for your three-year Initial License. If you completed the

District Induction Program during this two-year period, you will receive the five-year Professional

          License.
