IHE Educator Preparation Programs or Adding an Endorsement: What You Need to Know

This page lists the steps your IHE will complete to develop an educator preparation program or add an endorsement to an existing program. It also includes links to resources that help you complete each step.

1. Review Guidelines

Always confirm you have the latest version of the IHE Educator Preparation Program and Endorsement Guidelines


2. Submit Documentation

  • Reference the IHE Initial Authorization Application Checklist
  • Receive Application Link within IHE Initial Authorization Checklist
  • Complete the IHE Initial Authorization online application 


3. Verify Alignment to Standards

The State Board of Education and CDE will evaluate your application using the Quality Indicators published in the Guidelines


4. Receive Decision from State Board of Education

The State Board of Education grants final approval for all educator preparation programs and added endorsements to existing programs


5. Ongoing Engagement

Once your program is approved, participate in:

  • Annual engagement
  • Reauthorization process
