Becoming a Designated Agency: What You Need to Know

This page lists the steps your organization will complete to serve as a Designated Agency in Colorado. It also includes links to resources that help you complete each step.

1. Review Guidelines

Always confirm you have the latest version of the Designated Agency Guidelines


2. Complete Pre-Screening

Pass the informal pre-screening process with CDE



3. Submit Documentation

  • Receive a link to the electronic application from CDE
  • Gather all required documentation
  • Complete the Designated Agency online application 


4. Engage in review process

CDE will evaluate your application using the Quality Indicators published in the Designated Agency Guidelines


5. Receive Decision

The State Board of Education grants final approval for all Designated Agencies
