1. What is an approved induction program?

An induction program is provided by Colorado schools, school districts, some private and charter schools, approved facilities and/or BOCES and includes supervision by mentor teachers, ongoing professional development and training, including ethics, and performance evaluations. Contact the school principal or the district's Personnel/Human Resources office for information about their induction program.

2. Is renewal credit required for renewal of a initial license?

No, you are only required to submit a renewal application and an evaluation fee.

3. Can I renew my initial license more than once?

Yes, you are able to renew your initial license more than once if have not completed a Colorado State Board of Education approved induction program.

4. I work in a private school. Am I able to complete an approved induction program through my private school?

Only if your private school has an approved induction program in place. Private schools may request information regarding the guidelines for developing an induction program. That information may be obtained from:

5. I hold more than one initial license. Am I required to fill out two applications when renewing both of them?

Yes, you will have to complete two separate on-line applications and you will be required to pay an evaluation fee for each license that you are renewing.

6. Can I complete an induction program in another state?

No, the induction program must be approved by the Colorado State Board of Education and completed through an approved Colorado school district, BOCES, or facility.
