Test fees:
The registration processing fee is $35.00. The test fees are $60.00 for first-time test takers. Test re-takers will receive a $25.00 rebate for repeated attempts.

- Mail payments: Cashier's Check or Money Order only.
Who is Required to Take the PLACE Assessments?
Candidates for initial educator licenses in Colorado may be required to take and pass one or more of the PLACE assessments. This includes candidates for teaching, special services, principal, and administrator licenses. Please refer to your approved program coordinator or to the corresponding licensure application for specific testing requirements.
Applicants for initial educator licenses who hold a standard license outside of Colorado, and who have three or more years of successful, consecutive, full-time experience in the content area may be exempt from taking the PLACE assessments. Please refer to the corresponding licensure application for more details.
