Licensure Requirements for Initial CTE Application
Applicant Information
Welcome to CTE licensing/credentialing. The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) now issues CTE endorsements/credentials as a result of the passage of Colorado state statute 22-2-132.
The credentialing process is credentialing by pathway rather than by a specific program. A pathway is a broad grouping of careers that share similar characteristics and whose employment requirements call for many competencies. To determine the pathway you need to apply for, see the Career and Technical Education program crosswalk. To review a list of all the CTE endorsements/credentials available, please select the list.
There are 2 ways to qualify for a CTE endorsement/credential:
1. Submit an Initial CTE application if you have a 4-year degree or less and only want to apply for a CTE endorsement/credential.
2. Submit an Alternative Teacher License application if you have a 4-year degree and want to be licensed as a teacher eventually. Submit an Initial CTE application, also, if you want to be employed as a CTE instructor.
