Alternative Applicant
Alternative teacher and principal preparation programs provide a pathway to prepare educators with professional experience and content knowledge to meet high need areas in Colorado schools.
Once your application has been approved and your background check was cleared, you can seek employment as an Alternative Teacher or Principal/Assistant Principal while also enrolling in an Alternative Preparation Program.
During an alternative program you will be employed full-time while you receive instruction, mentoring, supervision and assessment of proficiency according to specific performance standards for teacher or principals. Programs are provided by approved Designated Agencies, and meet Colorado standards for obtaining initial licensure.
