Marketing Nutrition in the Middle Grades: Adolescent Food Habits and Marketing Strategies That Work (PDF) - The Colorado Department of Education Nutrition Unit contracted with the National Food Service Management Institute to undertake a review of literature to examine current food habits of adolescents; efforts were made at marketing nutrition in the cafeteria setting and also the  marketing strategies employed by advertising professionals to reach young people.  We invite all groups interested in developing marketing programs for schools to apply information from this report to help ensure a successful campaign.

The Colorado Department of Education would like to thank the School Food Service Marketing Advisory Committee who conceived of and saw the need for this project as part of a statewide effort to market nutrition to adolescents.  The department would also like to acknowledge the primary author Heather Mixon MS, R.D. for her thoroughness in researching and reporting this topic.

Power Panther, Eat Smart Play Hard Resources - Eat Smart, Play Hard will give practical suggestions to motivate children and their caregivers to eat healthy and be active.  This USDA resource has kid-tested messages, that are based on MyPyramid and the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
