Colorado Library Diversity Projects
The Special Populations & Issues Committee leads a variety of
statewide diversity and inclusivity programs and projects to
encourage quality library service to ethnic minority
populations, persons with physical and mental disabilities,
seniors, the under-served, and others.
Workshops and consulting are available to Colorado libraries.
Members of the Committee assist librarians in understanding and
planning services for special populations. Topics may include
community outreach, marketing, community needs assessments and
collection development. To explore these possibilities,

members.
Promising Practices in Library Diversity – 2007
As part of the Special Populations & Issues Committees work
on promoting diversity planning in libraries, three public
libraries were provided with demographic overviews of their
library service areas. Potential collaborators and community
resources were identified to give library staff a starting point
in developing a broader diversity plan for their libraries.
