2013 Colorado Teen Video Contest

What:

The Colorado State Library and the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) are excited to announce a teen video contest. Teens, 13-18, individually or in teams, are invited to create a short Public Service Announcement promoting the 2013 summer reading theme "Beneath the Surface."

Why:

  • Engage teens at your library and in your community

  • Promote reading and the summer reading program to teens

  • Have an opportunity to promote and utilize digital literacy skills with teens

  • Encourage teens to be creative

  • Allow teens from CO to get national exposure and win $$! The winning teen or teen team will receive $275!

  • Win $$ for your library! The library that sponsors the winning video in Colorado will get prizes worth $125!

Who:

The "Colorado 2013 Teen Video Challenge" is open to legal U.S. residents who are residents of Colorado aged 13-18. Participants are ineligible if directly related to the panel of judges for the contest. All Colorado public libraries can participate.

How:

For libraries:

  • Promote the contest in your library and community.

  • Encourage teens to participate and assist them with meeting the contest requirements and answering questions.

For teens (and see this flyer for teens):

  • Get the Entry Form here. Read all instructions provided on the Entry Form.

  • Create a 30-90 second video that encourages teens to read and use libraries this summer. Be sure to use the concept of "Beneath the Surface" as the main focus of your video. Do not promote or name your local public library; videos need to promote libraries in general. Useful video production resources are available at www.cslpreads.org/video-resources.html.

  • Entitle your video with: "2013 TVC-CO-Unique Name." Please choose a unique name that does not include your real name.

  • Upload your video to YouTube.com or Vimeo.com.

  • Fill out your Entry Form and Model Release form(s) completely. Be sure to include one Model Release form for each person that appears in the video.

  • Mail in the completed forms by February 20, 2013 to:
