National Library Week

National Library Week is an annual celebration of the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate.

  • National Library Week
    ALA’s National Library Week web site has resources for promoting your library including press releases and more.
  • School Library Media Month
    Many school libraries also celebrate the month of April as School Library Media Month. Resources are available online. Sponsored by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), a division of ALA.
  • National Library Workers Day
    On the Tuesday of National Library Week, National Library Workers Day is for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
  • Support Teen Literature Day
    Participate in Support Teen Literature Day to raise awareness among the general public that young adult literature is a vibrant, growing genre with much to offer today's teens.

This year, the Colorado State Library encourages you to celebrate these events by networking with library staff from other libraries in your area.

  • Reconnect with someone you haven't talked with in a while.
  • Learn about creative things going on in another library just up the street!
  • Meet new library people who work with the same population that uses your library.
  • Share information about upcoming programs or other library activities.
