Read To Achieve grant funding is awarded to eligible elementary schools, including charter and Institute Charter schools, and/or groups of eligible schools (consortia) to fund research-based, intensive reading programs. This funding opportunity is designed specifically for kindergarten through third-grade students – and students between the third and fourth grades – whose reading readiness or literacy and reading comprehension skills are below the levels established by the State Board of Education, pursuant to the Colorado Basic Literacy Act (CBLA). Funding for the Read To Achieve grant program is contingent upon appropriations made by the Colorado Legislature from tobacco settlement monies.
Read To Achieve works on a three-year cycle. The next grant cycle begins in 2010, at which time a list of eligible schools will be identified by the Colorado Department of Education.
