Authorizers and Boards

Authorizer's Meetings: Provide charter school authorizer training on the proposed quality standards, the charter application process, contracting, the charter renewal process, monitoring, oversight, charter replication, and charter school restart and turnaround models.
Goal: Allow resource sharing and networking ith an emphasis on highlighting best practices.
Attendees: Authorizers, district personnel, members of boards.
Frequency: Typically scheduled four times a year.
Location: Held at various school district offices with superintendent and others who have a need to know about authorizing Colorado charter schools.

Regional Board Training: Meets to discuss topics such as vision and mission, board relationships, board self-assessment, legal issues, program assessment and accountability, strategic planning, and pitfalls to avoid.
Goal: Reinforce training based on the standards for best practices in board governance used by the Charter School Support Initiative (CSSI) school evaluation site visit team.
Attendees: Current and potential charter school board members, charter school administrators.
Frequency: As requested by charter schools.
Location: Held at Adams 12 Conference Center in Thornton, or various charter schools or school district offices.

Board President's Council (Regional and Webinar): Provides a venue for troubleshooting, networking, technical assistance, and discussion. Recognizing the geographic distribution of charter schools, CDE ensures the opportunity for online participation and webinar formats.
Goal: Provide support and resources to governing board leadership.
Attendees: Current and future board leaders and chairpersons.
Frequency: Four meetings scheduled per year, two as webinars.
Location: Two councils held at host charter schools in the Denver metro area. Two councils in webinar format held at CDE.
