Exclusive Chartering Authority (ECA)
Exclusive Chartering Authority (ECA) allows the school district to act as the sole authorizer of charter schools within the district's boundaries.
School districts may apply for ECA with the State Board of Education or they may automatically qualify for ECA based on certain criteria. If a school wants to apply for a charter through the Colorado Charter Schools Institute, and the district the school resides in has secured ECA, the school must receive approval from the school district first.
