Colorado P-12 Academic Standards

Online Searchable Standards with Depth of Knowledge Indicators*
This feature will allow users to easily extract specific grade levels within a desired content area. It also provides an opportunity for one to extract all grade level expectations related to a particular prepared graduate competency. This unique feature will help districts map curriculum that will build to each prepared graduate competency.

In addition, depth of knowledge (DOK) indicators for each evidence outcome and nature of science statements have been embedded into the online searchable tool. DOK indicates the level at which a student must learn and apply the thinking processes/skills to successfully demonstrate a particular evidence outcome. DOK measures cognitive demand, or complexity, and is assigned using a hierarchy of levels 1 through 4, with a range of DOK levels assigned to each evidence outcome in all content areas. For more information about DOK click here.

* The reissued Colorado Academic Standards in Mathematics and Reading, Writing and Communicating will be added to the online searchable pages as soon as possible.  DOK indicators in these content areas will be forthcoming.

Career & Technical Education Standards and Validated Academic Alignments

In addition to requiring the review process of the academic standards, Senate Bill 08-212 also called for the State Board of Education to "take into account any Career & Technical Education standards adopted by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education, created in Section 23-60-104, C.R.S., and, to the extent practicable, shall align the appropriate portions of the preschool through elementary and secondary Education standards with the Career and Technical standards."

The revised and approved Career & Technical Education Standards and their alignments to the academic model content standards are available at http://www.coloradostateplan.com/content_standards.htm.
