Adult Education and Family Literacy Act Grant Information
NO RFP WILL BE ISSUED for FY10 (July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010)
The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (the federal legislation that authorizes and funds Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) grants) expired at the end of FY 2004, and has not yet been reauthorized by Congress.
Pending reauthorization, all currently funded AEFLA and EL/Civics programs are eligible for a one-year funding continuance upon submission and approval of the FY10 continuation request and budget.
- Programs funded for FY01-03 and granted continuance for FY04, FY05, FY06, FY07, FY08 and FY09 are eligible for a 7th continuance for FY10
- Programs funded for FY02-04 and granted continuance for FY05, FY06, FY07, FY08 and FY09 are eligible for a 6th continuance for FY10
- Programs funded for FY03-05 and continued in FY06, FY07, FY08 and FY09 are eligible for continuance for FY10 and will transition to FY11 funding under the reauthorized legislation
- Proposals from new programs will not be solicited; no new programs will be funded in FY10
