English Language Proficiency Assessment

ACCESS for ELLs® is a secure English language proficiency assessment for students enrolled in grades K-12  who have been identified as English Language Learners (ELL).

 

Important Announcements

The ACCESS for ELLs assessment window closes February 8, 2012.  All assessments must be completed by this date.
 

New English Language Proficiency Assessments

Colorado has become a full member of the WIDA Consortium. Starting in the 2012-2013 school year the new screener to assist in the identification of students that qualify for English Language Acquisition (ELA) programming will be the W-APT™ which stands for the WIDA-ACCESS Placement Test. The annual test that measures a student’s progress in acquiring academic English is ACCESS for ELLs®, which stands for Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners.

Assessment Windows

The final testing window for the CELApro assessment was December 12, 2011 - January 31, 2012. 

Colorado school districts may continue to use CELAplace through September 30, 2012 as they transition to the
W-APT™. Please contact your District Assessment Coordinator on which placement test your district is using.
