Goals of the Initiative
The Secondary Transition Services team has responsibility to provide
monitoring, technical assistance and training to Administrative Units to
ensure compliance with the IDEA transition requirements and to support
coordination of special education services with general education and
adult agency services.
Targeted activities are designed around reporting requirements of the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and components outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Exceptional Children’s Education Act (ECEA).
The Secondary Transition Services Team:
- Provides targeted training to special educators;
- Develops and disseminates technical assistance materials to educators, parents and community agencies; and
- Collaborates with adult agency partners to identify and alleviate service gaps.
