Family, School and Community Partnering: "On the Team and at the Table" Stakeholder Training - This face-to-face training focuses on how families, schools, and communities can partner effectively to support positive student outcomes. This training is for all education stakeholders, including family and community members. Administrators, teachers, related service providers, higher education faculty, advisory groups, school board members, advocates, and accountability committee members are all invited to attend. Please note: This is the same training that was offered this fall and regionally in 2011-12.

Assessment/Progress Monitoring Overview and Preparation in an RtI Model: What You Need to Know - This online course provides the foundation for assessment and monitoring progress within a Response to Intervention framework in elementary and secondary settings for students with disabilities. Participants gain an understanding of the types of assessment and specific resources geared toward targeted and intensive progress monitoring for special education evaluation. This directly contributes to ensuring a body of evidence as required by the state's Specific Learning Disability eligibility criteria. This also provides special educators with data on the effectiveness of interventions for students with disabilities.

Multi-Tiered Family, School, and Community Partnering - The goal of this course is to provide Colorado PreK-12 education stakeholders with the shared knowledge and resources to effectively implement multi-tier family, school, and community partnering in supporting school success for all students – both in individual roles and as team members, consultants, or organizations. A primary focus is the shift from traditional parent involvement at school to active family partnering in coordinating learning between home and school. The research and legal rationales for this shift are highlighted, while continually applying the findings in a practical way to school, home, and community settings.

Secondary Schools and Multi-Tiered Family, School, and Community Partnering - The goal of this course is to provide Colorado secondary (middle and high school) educators with knowledge and resources to effectively implement multi-tiered family, school and community partnering in supporting school success for every student. There are emphases on dropout prevention, Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAP), and postsecondary and workforce readiness. A key focus is the shift from traditional parent involvement at school to active family partnering in coordinating learning and supports between home and school, with a focus on positive secondary student outcomes. The research and legal rationales for this shift are presented, while continually applying the findings in a practical way and adapting resources to fit participants' individual sites or situations. PLEASE NOTE: Some of the material in this course is the same or similar to the basic family partnering course (Multi-Tiered Family, School, and Community Partnering), but with specific readings and videos targeting the secondary world.

Literacy Interventions K-3 - This course provides professional development based on current scientific research regarding reading assessment, instruction and intervention. Content focuses on literacy skill development for students in kindergarten through 3rd grade in the areas of phonological awareness, phonics, reading fluency and spelling. Participants gain an understanding of literacy development for typical readers in order to more accurately understand and identify students with reading disabilities such as dyslexia. This course provides primary teachers and specialists with information and resources to intervene appropriately and develop a body of evidence for identification and instruction for students with reading disabilities.

Improving Math Outcomes for Students with Disabilities and Struggling Learners - This online course directly addresses how to improve outcomes for students with disabilities in the area of math, with a particular emphasis on students with SLD in the area of math. It introduces current understandings of how math develops, includes instructional strategies known to improve performance of students who struggle, and also provides tools for progress monitoring and diagnostic assessment. It supports educators as they implement the criteria for SLD eligibility.

Problem Solving Consultation - The problem-solving process is pivotal to RtI implementation with fidelity and directly contributes to the validity of the body of evidence required for SLD eligibility determination as well as other disability categories. This course targets the problem-solving that occurs at the individual student level utilizing a consultant model to gain information and to support special education teachers, related service providers, and parents throughout the problem-solving process.

Progress Monitoring for Behavior
Interventions
- This online
course addresses data collection, data analysis, and decision-making
as part of a problem-solving process throughout the universal,
targeted, and intensive systems of social-emotional support. The
course provides the foundation for monitoring student progress for
the purpose of evaluating the effectiveness of behavior
interventions in school. (This class is a prerequisite for the

Introduction to FBA/BIP - This online course will present an overview of Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). The course provides a foundation for understanding FBAs and participating in the completion of FBAs and BIPs. (You need to have taken/passed the Progress Monitoring for Behavior Interventions class before taking this class.)
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to 1)
Identify situations in which a Functional Behavior Assessment is
necessary; 2) Explain the difference between a Simple FBA and Full
FBA; 3) Name and understand a variety of methods of FBA (i.e.,
record reviews, structured interviews, direct observation); 4)
Participate in the FBA process through effective use of the
Functional Assessment forms and tools; 5) Identify a variety of
behavioral strategies and interventions; 6) Identify the necessary
components of an effective Behavior Intervention Plan; 7) Explain
the importance of family-school partnerships.
