RITS Educator Identifier Overview

HB-09-1065 directs the Colorado Department of Education to develop a system that will assign unique identifiers to teachers and principals employed by a local education agency.

The Colorado Department of Education uses 6 data elements to uniquely identify an employee in the RITS Educator Identifier System.

      1. Last Name

      2. First Name

      3. Middle Name

      4. Birth date

      5. Gender

      6. SSN

                                                                   


  Confidentiality

  • RITS Educator is accessed via a secure, public internet connection and requires a unique user ID and password to enter
  • EDID's are converted to an Encrypted Educator ID number before entering CDE's Data Warehouse
  • All public reporting and internal CDE use corresponds to the Encrypted Educator ID number to protect against accidental disclosure
