Title IV A - Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC)

No longer funded by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).

The purpose of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program (SDFSC) was to support programs that prevent violence in and around schools and the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs; involve parents; and coordinate these efforts and resources with other federal, state, and community entities. Grant funds were allocated based on the poverty rate and student population to school districts to establish, operate, and improve local programs of school drug and violence prevention, early intervention, rehabilitation referral, and education in elementary through secondary schools.
