Timeline for Conducting Annual Evaluations

One of the main elements of change with the implementation of Senate Bill 10-191 is the requirement to evaluate all licensed personnel annually. This quick tip is intended to clarify when specific elements of the bill take effect in order to allow school districts to plan for this change in practice. Prior to 2010/11

Transition 2010/11, 2011/12, & 2012/13

Implementation 2013/14 and beyond

Teacher Evaluations

Non-probationary teachers: Once every three years.

Probationary teachers: Every year

2010/11 No change

2011/12 No change

2012/13 Annual evaluations for all probationary AND non-probationary teachers

Statutory Reference: 22-9-106 (1) (C) (II)

Annual evaluations based on the teacher Quality Standards with 50% based on student growth

Principal Evaluations

New principals every year until their fourth year.

Beginning in the fourth year, once every three years

2010/11 No change

2011/12 Annual evaluations

2012/13 Annual evaluations

Annual evaluations based on Pprincipal Quality Standards with 50% based on student growth
