Assurances for Written Evaluation Systems
Additional Information
The assurances for written evaluation systems will be due to CDE by July 1, 2013. They are intended to ensure that school districts and BOCES across Colorado implement written evaluation systems that are aligned with Senate Bill 10-191 and the State Board Rules for the Evaluation of Licensed Personnel.
Three assurances will be collected. To access the assurance
document,
click here. The assurances are detailed below.
Assurance 1: The school district/BOCES has adopted the State
Model for principals and teachers OR has adopted an evaluation
system for principals and teachers that is aligned to the State
Board Rules, OR a hybrid. (State model for principals or teachers,
and another aligned system for principals or teachers)
The first assurance is to collect information about the
evaluation system that will be implemented in your school district
or by your BOCES.
Assurance 2: The school district/BOCES has reviewed all of
the required elements of a local evaluation system and verified that
its evaluation system meets, or that the district/BOCES is in
progress towards meeting, the requirements specified in State
Board Rule. (CDE will provide a support document entitled “Checklist
of Essential Elements of a Local Personnel Evaluation System” to
identify specific requirements that are being assured.)
The second assurance is to collect information about specific requirements in State Board rule. Having done a thorough review of the requirements for written evaluation systems CDE has determined that there are select requirements that will be difficult to assure this July. Because of this, CDE has identified in the “checklist,” specific requirements that will begin to be collected in July of 2014.
Assurance 3: The school district’s/BOCES written
evaluation system, as required by section 22-9-106 (1), C.R.S.,is
available at the following URL:
______________________________________. (Please note, if the
district/BOCES is unable to post its written evaluation system on
its own website, materials may be electronically mailed, or provided
in electronic format, to CDE to be posted on the department’s
website.)
The last assurance is to collect information about where your
evaluation system can be accessed by other school districts/BOCES,
and the public.
