More information:

State Council for Educator Effectiveness
In April the 15-member State Council for Educator Effectiveness will recommend to the state board of education a new, comprehensive educator evaluation system that is uniquely Colorado and based on best practices and proven research.

School Leadership Academy Board
The School Leadership Academy Board advises the state board of education on revising Colorado’s standards for school principals; adopting a new statewide system to identify, recruit, train and induct qualified public school leaders; and creating a principals’ leadership academy.

Quality Teachers Commission
The Quality Teachers Commission makes recommendations for implementing an educator identifier system that links teachers and principals to their students’ achievement data. The commission also studies Colorado’s “teacher gap” — or why teachers with less experience and fewer qualifications are more likely to teach poor and minority students. The analysis will be submitted to legislators in summer 2011.

Colorado Educator Pipeline Task Force
The Colorado Educator Pipeline Task Force provides input and recommendations to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and the Department of Higher Education (DHE) on the design of an effectiveness-based system of educator licensure and induction.

Colorado Legacy Foundation
Inspired by CDE's Forward Thinking strategic plan, the Colorado Legacy Foundation was established in 2007 as a private nonprofit governed by an independent board of trustees that develops initiatives to support CDE's work. It convenes educators, policy makers and community leaders to improve schools. The approach is to identify promising ideas, invest in those innovative ideas, evaluate results and share successful best practices with all Colorado school districts and schools. The Colorado Legacy Foundation is engaged in several partnerships with CDE, including a two-year effort funded by the Rose Community Foundation and The New Teacher Project to support CDE’s educator effectiveness work.  Click here for a project overview.    One Page Description
