Partnering to transform teaching and learning
The Colorado Department of Education partners with statewide councils, commissions, boards, foundations and organizations to advance the state’s educator effectiveness work.
State Council for Educator Effectiveness
The 15-member State Council for Educator Effectiveness,
guided by Senate Bill 10-191 and proven research, makes recommendations
to the State Board of Education on a new comprehensive educator evaluation system that is uniquely Colorado.
State Board of Education
The State Board of Education works closely with the State Council
for Educator Effectiveness and is ultimately responsible for
approving all council recommendations.
Quality Teachers Commission
The Quality Teachers Commission makes recommendations for implementing an educator identifier system that links teachers and principals to their students’ achievement data. The commission also studies Colorado’s “teacher gap” — or why teachers with less experience and fewer qualifications are more likely to teach poor and minority students. The analysis will be submitted to legislators in summer 2011.
Colorado Educator Pipeline Task
Force
The Colorado Educator Pipeline Task Force provides input and recommendations to
the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and the Department of Higher
Education (DHE) on the design of an effectiveness-based system of educator
licensure and induction.
Colorado Legacy Foundation
The Colorado Legacy Foundation believes that increased student
achievement for all Colorado students requires effective leaders in
every school, effective educators in every classroom, and healthy and
engaging environments that ignite a passion for learning in every
student.
Colorado Department of Higher Education
The Colorado Department of Higher Education and Colorado Department of Education are partnering to build and support a preschool through college system to ensure that students graduate from high school prepared for postsecondary education and the workforce.
Colorado Council of Deans of Education
The Colorado Council of Deans of Education includes deans and directors of educator preparation programs at Colorado colleges and universities. Its reauthorization committee meets regularly with the Colorado Department of Education and Colorado Department of Higher Education about state authorization and national accreditation.
